On episode one, I am joined by Rae, Ryan, Jeremy, and Ian, who together are building a literal village and intentional community for tech optimists, founders, and enthusiasts, here in New Hampshire. Inspired by the state motto “Live free or die” they’re calling it Freedom Village.
I think their vision is a powerful expression of the values and ideas this show is about, mainly, how can we balance being excited about technology while still embracing the things that make us human?
In addition to this, they’re throwing a whole two day summit in August devoted to celebrating and making the case for why more people should build innovative businesses in New Hampshire.
We also talk about the balance between risk, progress, and regulation in biological and nuclear tech, the aesthetic of solar punk, political tribes, using tech to help people make friends with strangers, and a bunch of other fun stuff.
